In keeping with the Company's overall commitment to sustainability, Mallory Alexander joined a growing list of shippers, carriers and third parties in applying for and acquiring a significant designation under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay Transport program.
On January 23, 2009 Mallory Alexander International Logistics achieved "Logistics Partner" status in The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's SmartWay Transport program. In response to the company’s acceptance into the program Neely Mallory III, president of Mallory Alexander, commented, "The Company has an internal Team that is working to assure that the benefits of this program for our Company, our customers and carrier partners, are fully realized. More than anything, SmartWay is just 'good business' and is in keeping with Mallory’s on-going goals in corporate sustainability, quality and environmental responsibility."
The SmartWay Transport program, launched by the EPA in 2004, has the stated purpose of creating a partnership among government, business and consumers "to protect the environment, reduce fuel consumption, and improve air quality for future generations."
Those companies that apply for and are accepted into the program agree to an initial three year process to measure and monitor their shipping practices, and to implement a basic set of criteria that will result in an annual overall volume increase in usage of SmartWay approved carriers.
Mallory Alexander International Logistics has established sustainability and environmental responsibility as part of its core business mission. It believes that this stance can improve company efficiency and reduce costs as well as enhance its competitiveness with its shipper customers and relationship with its carriers.
It is in that spirit that Mallory has received and embraced EPA SmartWay Transport Logistics Partner status and will be working to maximize the benefits of the program for the long term.
