Mallory Alexander International Logistics and representatives from the Bismarck Mandan Development Association were happy to be in attendance for the 2009 AWEA WINDPOWER Conference and Exhibition in May. This year, the conference took us to Chicago, Ill. where we participated in the biggest wind energy event in the world.

In all, the conference hosted over 1,200 exhibitors and over 23,000 attendees! There were attendees from all 50 states and 70 countries as well as keynote addresses from five state governors, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, Energy Secretary Steven Chu, and the one and only T. Boone Pickens.

Mallory Alexander had two representatives in attendance and also participated in manning the booth of the North Dakota Department of Commerce.

The contacts made at the conference and during our follow up effort afterwards have generated one site visit from a tower manufacturers exploring the Northern Plains Commerce Centre and the Bismarck-Mandan MSA for their expansion, three manufacturers interested in using the transload facility for a rail site and staging area for local wind projects and provided numerous opportunities to promote the Northern Plains Commerce Centre, the Bismarck-Mandan MSA and North Dakota.

We look forward to participating again next year when the event comes to Dallas!
